After yesterdays frustrating draw against Newbury. Everyone woke up raring to go. Yesterday evening we discussed how to beat Barking (a physical team) everyone’s hopes were high to earn our first victory.

One hour later, we arrived in minibuses at our football pitch. We quickly got changed and started to warm up. We knew it was going to be a hard game. However we had a plan: our tactic was to put them under pressure from kick off, we looking for a crucial win. A couple of minutes into the game they scored a deserved but lucky goal. Despite conceding early we bounced back with a curling cross from Daniel and finished by a header from Tom. once again we conceded a scrappy goal from a corner. 2-1 down after 10 minutes. The goals were rushing in! From Barking’s good spell of play they scored a stunning long range effort. The Orpington fans cheered us on as we du deep. We found ourselves dominating which soon paid off when Jack finished our fast attack. We kept the pressure on but could not score before halftime. Ben demanded us to carry on what we were doing in the late stages of the first half. (Editors note: asked politely!) We tried to break down the stubborn Barking defence but we couldn’t. Attack after attack. In the closing stages Barking scored a heartbreaking header. From then on we didn’t create too many chances and consequently we lost 4-2.

Following lunch and hard match, Blue squad went Gerald Durrells Zoo for endangered animals. We were all split into groups of 3 and 4 with 1 adult to supervise us.

Our main challenge was to decode and find letters for a word to do with the zoo. Each different letter was dotted around the Zoo in different places.

One of my favourite parts was visiting the exact spot that Jambo protected the little boy from being tossed around and pulled to shreds. Also in the Gorillas habitat I liked watching the male and female Gorillas fight for their son. The son still oblivious to the situation and swinging rope to rope. An amazing day was had by everyone and all would definitely come back again.
